Map360 2021 Migration from USB Dongles to Leica CLM EIDs

License Change Overview

Starting with the release of Map360 2021.0.17, we are starting the phase-out of USB Dongles.  Map360 2021 has standardized to the Leica Geosystems Client License Manager (CLM) and electronic licences (EID).

All existing Map360 customers under an active maintenance contract at the time of release will be migrated free of charge from the Dongle-based licensed version to the EID-based platform for license management in CLM.

The migration process will commence in August 2021 and continue throughout the year.  Once Map360 2023 is released, that version will only support EID licenses so we suggest that you start your migration as early as possible.

We've included some self-help documents and movies that will help you through the process.

Migration Scenarios

As part of the move to CLM and EID-based licensing, users will be migrated to this new system either automatically or manually depending on their CCP status.

Customers with active maintenance

  • All customers with currently active maintenance at the time of release will be issued new EID(s) to replace their old dongle. This EID will honour the product(s) and maintenance date of their existing dongles.
  • The primary contact will be emailed and mailed an entitlement certificate(s) containing their new EID.
  • If a customer wishes to upgrade their product to another edition, this must be done as a second step.
  • Customers are responsible for returning their dongles to Leica Geosystems or MicroSurvey within 90 days of the delivery of their new EID.  Keys are to be sent back at the customer's expense.

Customers without active maintenance

  • Customers with expired maintenance contracts must purchase new maintenance (CCP) contracts. They may purchase either 1, 2, 3 or 5 years at the time of migration.
  • If a maintenance contract is expired for more than six months, a reactivation fee will also apply.
  • If a customer wishes to upgrade their product to another edition, this must be done as a second step.
  • Customers are responsible for returning their dongles to Leica Geosystems or MicroSurvey within 90 days of the delivery of their new EID.  Keys are to be sent back at the customer's expense.

USB Dongle Mailing Instructions

All customers who receive an EID and activate it must return their USB dongle to Leica Geosystems or MicroSurvey at the address listed below after successful deployment of the EID. Delivered EIDs will be blocked after 90 days of not returning the dongle.

The dongle will be mailed or shipped at the customer's expense.  When you mail your package, please ensure you get a tracking number so can track the package.  If your key is lost in the mail, you can prove that you sent it to us with the tracking number you received.

USB Dongle Migration to EID Instructions

If you are an existing Map360 user and have received an entitlement certificate, congratulations, you can migrate free of charge to an electronic license (EID).  Please use the following instructions to activate your license.

Establishing and connecting to a License Server Instructions

Your Map360 entitlement is a floating license, meaning it can be accessed by any computer on your local network. Most users will use the floating license on their own computer. For some, the floating license will be installed on a server, or a computer that multiple users can access over the local network. You will need to properly setup Map360 to use a network license located on a server or remote computer.

Borrow EID Instructions

You can borrow a license from a license server for offset temporary use. You can borrow a license for a duration of 1 day to a maximum of 90 days. After the time has expired, the license is automatically released. You can also check a license back into the server at any time prior to expiration.
